Atrocities act will not be touched, no follower of Dr. Ambedkar would abuse it, says Devendra Fadnavis

    Maharsahtra CM Devendra Fadnavis
    Nagpur:
Following the successful and numerically huge morchas of Maratha community with their plethora of demands, some SC morchas are also being organized against the demand for repel of Atrocities Act which was incorporated in our constitution for protection (from abuse) of SC/ST communities.

“The atrocity act will stay” said C.M. Fadnavis categorically. “It is an important part of our constitution”. He did not rule out some misuse of it by some elements but said ” such people cannot be real followers of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar and wherever there is suspicion of misuse we shall investigate thoroughly”.

He also said that Maharashtra stands in the 10th position where atrocities are concerned.

    Shivaji’s statue in Arabian Sea
There had been a vociferous demand from politicians across the board for a landmark statue of Shivaji Maharaj in the Arabian Sea off the coast of Mumbai – on the lines of the Statue of Liberty that welcomes all visitors arriving at USA via New York, the finance capital of America.

A budget of Rs. 3600 crores has been approved for it of which 2,300 will be spent in the first phase. Permission for this ambitious project was required from ten departments which has been obtained and the tendering process has begun, informed the CM while speaking in the House.
