As per due procedure, Devender Kumar (who is facing bribery allegations) is suspended from the Central Bureau of Investigation, the body has said in a statement.
Earlier, Deputy SP Devender Kumar was sent to 7 days CBI custody. The Delhi High Court was hearing petitions filed by Special CBI Director Rakesh Asthana and DSP Devender Kumar seeking quashing of an FIR against them in a bribery case. The separate petitions filed by them were heard by Justice Najmi Waziri.
The CBI had yesterday arrested its DSP, Kumar, in connection with bribery allegations involving the investigative agency’s second-in-command, Asthana.
Kumar, earlier the investigating officer in a case involving meat exporter Moin Qureshi, was arrested on the allegations of forgery in recording the statement of businessman Sathish Sana, who had alleged to have paid bribe to get relief in the case.
