Nagpur: Maharashtra Government will confer its highest recognition ‘Maharashtra Bhushan’ Award to veteran versatile singer Asha Bhosle in a ceremony to be held in Nagpur on December 21, said Sudhir Mungantiwar,Cultural Affairs and Forest Minister.
Interacting with media persons here on Wednesday, Mungantiwar said that ‘Maharashtra Bhushan’ Was announced to Asha Bhosle last year. However, due to COVID-19 pandemic situation, the award ceremony could not be held. Hence, now, the Government has decided to organise a two-day cultural festival at Yashwant Stadium in Nagpur during the Winter Session of the State Legislature. During that festival, he said, “Ashatai will be honoured with ‘Maharashtra Bhushan’ award on December 21.”
Replying to a question, Mungantiwar said that after Vasantrao Naik State Agricultural Extension Management Training Institute (VANAMATI), Nagpur will soon have ‘Maha Rudra Training Centre (MRTC) where nearly three lakh personnel related to Maharashtra’s Rural Development Department will be trained on the lines of YASHADA at Pune.
“We have asked Nagpur Collector Dr Vipin Itankar to finalise 100 acres of land for the institute. We will allocate Rs 100 crore for the project. As many as 2.92 lakh members of Panchayati Raj Institutions will be trained at the proposed institute. Though the project is of the Rural Development Department, the Cultural Affairs Department will be the nodal agency for it,” he added. MLA Hostel will be ramped up for the stay of trainees,” Mungantiwar said.
He further said that during the ensuing Winter Session of the State Legislature, the Government would bring a proposal to grant the status of Tribal and Forest University to Gondwana University.
