A little over a month after they were first unveiled on stage by Apple CEO Tim Cook at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco, Apple’s newest smartphones – the iPhone 6s and the iPhone 6s Plus – are available for purchase in India.
The prices for the new iPhones go up to Rs 92,000 and the starting price is Rs 62,000. The phones are available for purchase at various online and offline stores around the country.
The two models iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s plus come in three versions in terms of storage: 16 GB, 64 GB and 128 GB. The launch prices of both the phones are about Rs 10,000 higher than the iPhone 6 series that the company launched a year ago.

Along with India the two phones also go on sale in Malaysia and Turkey from October 16 and Apple plans to sell the new iPhone in over 130 countries by the end of the year.
Even though India is not a major market yet for Apple, the growing desire for the new Apple iPhones has attracted smugglers to cash in. A couple of days ago 22 iPhone 6s were seized by the customs officials from one of the toilets at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi. In another related case, seven youths were detained few days back at the same airport with 182 iPhone 6s and 6s Plus devices.
The new iPhones differ only slightly in terms of design as compared to the predecessor iPhone 6 and 6 Plus. However, they pack more RAM and better processors.
The new iPhones come with 3D Touch, a new feature that reduces the number of taps and scrolls by making the screen more interactive.
iPhone 6s plus has a fingerprint-resistant 5.5-inch LED-backlit display while iPhone 6s has a similar 4.7 inch screen size as its previous model. The latest phones from Apple are capable of recording video of 4K resolution.
Both the phones have 12 megapixel rear camera and 5 megapixel front cameras.
The battery in iPhone 6s plus and iPhone 6s is same as that of iPhone 6 plus and iPhone 6 launched last year.
In case of iPhone 6s Plus, it can support up to 24 hours talk time on 3G or up to 12 hours of Internet use on 3G or WiFi or play high definition video of up to 14 hours. The battery of iPhone 6s has less capacity as compared to 6s Plus.
