Anthony, Madavi lift golds

Nagpur: City power lifters Lawrence Anthony and Ajay Madavi won gold medals in the National Power lifting Championships that was organised by Navi Mumbai Power lifters Association at Jui Nagar, Navi Mumbai, recently. The three-day event held in the last week of May was conducted for sub-juniors and juniors boys and girls and masters men and women.

The championship was held under the auspices of National Power lifters Federation and Maharashtra Power lifting Association. As many as five power lifters from the city, representing Maharashtra, returned with a medal each.

While Anthony and Madavi won the yellow metal in the 100kg and 56kg class respectively, Siddharth Gharde and Kanchan Wankhede won a silver each in 75kg and 56kg class for boys and girls respectively. Rishabh Ravi Rathod picked a bronze in the 82.5kg class.
All the powerlifters train under the guidance of Vijay Bahadur and RR Bijor at Paramount Gym, Sadar. Members of Maharashtra Power lifting Association including Secretary Leo Peter congratulated all the medal winners for bringing laurels to the city
