For failures, the road to success is between RTMNU’s godown and photocopy centers. This is not a quote by any scholar but a shocking reality. In a development that would have far reaching consequences, the RTMNU Administration has found awful cheating business in revaluation of answer-papers. The students are found openly and flagrantly writing answers again in the answer-papers between the godown and photocopy centers. As is practice, the answer-papers are taken out from godown and brought to photocopy centers for revaluation. In between, the students are ambushing the answer-papers and writing answers again. And this mind-blowing business has been flourishing between the students and daily wagers. Now, all the roads are leading to RTMNU godown and photocopy centers.
Modus Operandi
According to information, Rashtrasant Tukdoji Maharaj Nagpur University has set up four centers for checking of answer-papers. When failed students demand photocopy of their answer-papers, the Revaluation Department prepares a list of examination numbers. Accordingly, the daily wagers take out the answer-papers according to the list from godown and take the answer-papers for photocopying. The failed students are taking the advantage of the process to the hilt. The students are writing the answers afresh and then photocopying the answer-papers. But the cost is heavy. The students are paying the hefty amounts for the business. The RTMNU has now set up a probe committee in this connection.
Disciplinary action committee admits glitch
The Disciplinary Action Committee (DAC) has demanded filing of FIR against Kirtan Bagde. Bagde has been charged that he has taken 3500 answer-papers to the residences of the students. The DAC gas accepted the massive irregularities between the answer-papers taken out from the godown for revaluation and photocopy centers. The issue was discussed in the meeting of Board od Examination (BoE) and subsequently a probe committee has been set up to go through the entire episode.
It may be recalled, the checking of answer-papers is done in four stages including valuation, scrutiny, moderation and second scrutiny. But still the illegal actions are being carried out. According to experts, the answer-papers of the students who demand photocopy of their answer-papers should be checked then and there only. Thereafter, the non-checked answer-papers should be sent to DAC. The DAC then can call the students for enquiry.
VC was apprised
The former Controller of Examination Sidharth Kane had apprised the Vice Chancellor Dr Vilas Sapkal about the safety of answer-papers. Kane had told Dr Sapkal that after checking of answer-papers in the four valuation centers, the answer-papers should be kept in the godown of Examination Department. From there, the answer-papers should be taken for photocopying in safe manner and the work should be done by RTMNU’s regular employees and not the daily wagers.
The daily wagers take the answer-papers for photocopying. No audit is done and there is also no time limit. Heaps and heaps of answer-papers are stocked in the valuation centers.
Serious Matter : Pro VC
The Pro-Vice Chancellor Dr Mahesh Yenki has termed the matter very serious and said that a committee has been set up in the Board of Examination and the committee is headed by Dr K C Deshmukh. The committee is likely to submit its report within a month.
