Another housebreak at Ajni; Thieves decamp with Rs 3.85 lakh valuables

Locked houses have become an easy target for thieves these days. On Friday, unidentified thieves broke open door lock at the house of an elderly man and looted booty worth Rs 3.85 lakh including cash of Rs 55,000.

Police sources said Purushottam Bapurao Talwekar (56), a resident of plot No. 118, Sevadal Nagar locked his house and went to his shop in Balaji Nagar. Meanwhile, his wife and children went to visit some relations. Grabbing the opportunity to lay their hands on valuables, thieves barged into the house by breaking open the lock on Friday between 1 pm and 9.30 pm. They looted Rs 55,000 and valuables from house collectively worth Rs 3.85 lakh.

Purushottam was stunned to see the house in a mess when he returned home. He immediately informed Ajni police station who registered an offence under Sections 454, 457, 380 of the IPC against unidentified thieves.
