Amit Shah visits Deekshabhoomi in Nagpur

Nagpur: The Union Home Minister Amit Shah who arrived in Nagpur on Friday night, paid a visit to historic Deekshaboomi on Saturday morning. Deputy Chief Minister and Guardian Minister Devendra Fadnavis along with Shah took darshan of the Asthikalas of Bharat Ratna Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar on this occasion.

Shah and Fadnavis performed Buddha worship after darshan. Deekshabhoomi Smarak Samiti Secretary Sudhir Fulzele and members Dr. Rajendra Gavai, Prof. D. J. Dabhade, Prof. Aglave, Vilas Gajghate, Bhante Dipankar and others welcomed Shah and. Fadnavis. The dignitaries were given souvenirs, shawls and the book ‘Buddha and His Dhamma’.

MLCs Chandrasekhar Bawankule and Pravin Datke, former Minister Rajkumar Badole, Collector Dr. Vipin Itankar were present on this occasion.

Deekshabhoomi is the place where social reformer Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar embraced Buddhism in 1956.
