Jawaharlal Nehru Aluminium Research Development and Design Centre, Nagpur, an autonomous body of Ministry of Mines is celebrating Silver Jubilee year from April 2014 to March 2015 which started with Foundation Day function on Thursday. The function was inaugurated by Chief Guest Dr Gopal Dhawan, Chairman cum Managing Director, Mineral Exploration Corporation Limited (MECL), Nagpur. Dr. T.R .Ramachandran, Founder Director and Emeritus Scientist, NFTDC, Hyderabad was the Guest of Honor and Dr P K Shisodhiya, Director, NIMH also graced the occasion.
In the welcome address, Anupam Agnihotri, Director, JNARDDC expressed his gratitude to ex-staff members of the institute and said that their contribution towards the establishment of this Centre cannot be forgotten. Agnihotri thanked the industrious, committed staff and also acknowledged support rendered by the Ministry of Mines, Government of India, Indian Aluminium Industry, National Aluminium Company (NALCO), Governing Body Chairman & members, Research Advisory & Project Monitoring Committee chairman & members and all the people who have been associated with growth of Centre.
Dr Gopal Dhawan, congratulated JNARDDC for achieving milestone in 25 years of service in the aluminium industry. He suggested that Centre may try to develop capability on characterization of other minerals which is in great demand in the country. Dr P.K.Shisodhiya, Director, NIMH desired to work along with JNARDDC and carry out collaborative projects especially on environment side. Dr T R Ramachandran, Founder Director, JNARDDC relived the memories of laying of foundation stone of Centre and acknowledged the efforts of UNDP experts for setting up technical facilities in the Centre. Mayank Shukla, President, MIDC Industries Association suggested that centre should take initiatives in defence and automobile sector as these are the needs for the country. The Officials from various aluminium industries and organizations were present for the function.
The Centre felicitated the ex-employees namely Shri C.S.Gundewar, Shri R.N.Goyal, Shri H.Mahadeven, Dr A.K.Nandi, Dr K.V.Ramana Rao, Shri A.S.Bandopadhyay, Shri Satish Dashottar, Shri R.R.Singh and Late Shri D.Ramakrishna. The ex-employees also expressed their noble views on this occasion.
Academic Events to mark Silver Jubilee Year
As a part of the silver jubilee celebrations, JNARDDC has planned some academic events in association with well established organizations and academic institutes .The academic events includes International Conference on Non Ferrous Materials and Metals (ICNFMM 2014) on July 11th and 12th 2014 at Nagpur in association with CM, IBAAS & VNIT, National Conference on Energy Efficiency Opportunities and Challenges in Al Industries on August 4th and 5th, 2014 at Nagpur in association with BEE, GIZ & EESL (ministry of power), International conference (IBAAS-2014) on the topic Technological Improvements & Market Developments with Special Reference to value added products on November 27th and 29th , 2014 at Vishakhapatnam in Association with IBAAS & CHALIECO, National Seminar (NASAS) on the topic Aerospace Structures (NASAS) on December 15th and 16th 2014, at Nagpur in association with VNIT, AR&DB.
