An All India Kavi Sammelan was organized by Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) at its Gandhibagh Garden on the auspices of Lotus Cultural and Sporting Association management and Ruling Party Leader Dayashankar Tiwari. The Kavi Sammelan marked anniversary of Gandhibagh Garden renovation, Hindu New Year and martyrdom day of Shahid Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru. The inaugural function was held in the presence of Mayor Pravin Datke, Deputy Mayor Munna Pokulwar, Standing Committee Chairman Ramesh Shingare, Organiser Dayashankar Tiwari, Leader of Opposition Vikas Thakre, Municipal Commissioner Shravan Hardikar and others.

Making the introductory speech, Dayashankar Tiwari said this is the 17th year of ‘Kavya Rajani” dedicated to protection of environment. This year the Kavi Sammelan is being held with the cooperation of NMC.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis also registered his presence at the Kavi Sammelan, for a brief moment.

The Kavi Sammelan started on rapturous note when the Bhopal-based poet Harivitthal ‘Dhumketu’ was invited to recite his signature poetries. As is his name, “Dhumketu’ created ripples of laughter among connoisseurs by reciting his work in his own peculiar style. A line of Dhumketu’s poetry “Tin Biwiyan Barah Bacche Ek Jhuggi Wahi Mahal Hai Chauthiki Hasarat Hai Dil Me Baki Sab Allah Ki Fazal Hai” triggered a wave of laugher and clapping of hands for a long time.
