Nagpur: Ajni police have busted a racket run by an interstate gang involved in import and export of aluminium foil. A company had received an order to provide aluminium foils worth Rs46.82 lakh. Following this, the company put the foils in 21 boxes and loaded it into a container to send it via freight.

However, during the customs check, it came to the fore that the aluminium foils were missing and the boxes were filled with sand. The said company then registered a case against driver of the trailer at Ajni police station.

During investigation, it came to light that the accused had reached the freight station in Narendra Nagar nine hours late. While scrutinizing CCTV footage to track the vehicle, it was noticed that the trailer had gone to a godown in Kalamna. The cops raided the godown and found two boxes of aluminium foils.

According to police, the accused had bribed the driver in Raipur. Later, they fled the spot. Cops however recovered the remaining aluminium foils which were traced to New Delhi.
