Aishwarya Rai Bachchan To Play Madonna In Fanne Khan Song

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, who has wrapped up the shoot of the upcoming film Fanne Khan, will kick off the biggest song of her career this week. The song, which features the actress as an ‘Indian Madonna’, is being choreographed by award-winning dancer and creative director, Frank Gatson Jr (inset), who has worked with Hollywood singers Beyoncé and Rihanna in the past, while the song is crooned by Sunidhi Chauhan.

The song from the film Fanne Khan is an elaborate portrayal of Aishwarya’s city tours, covering three-four acts. sharing more details, debutant director Atul Manjrekar, in a statement to Mumbai Mirror, said, “Aishwarya plays a huge pop icon who’s extremely popular with the youngsters. Her character is a fabulous dancer and singer who performs on the global stage. While fleshing out her character, we began referencing a bunch of choreographers who do international live shows. Frank is among the best in the world and we decided to approach him.” Report suggests that the song will be shot over eight-10 days in Mumbai.

Frank, who has choreographed 17 videos for Beyoncé and was the director-choreographer of three of her world tours, is excited to work with Aishwarya. Manjrekar further told the daily, “Frank was excited at the opportunity to work with Aishwarya whom he knows of and immediately came on board.” Frank, who got his big break with Michael Jackson’s ‘Smooth Criminal’, has also worked with Jennifer Lopez, Toni Braxton and Usher.

Helmed by Atul Manjrekar, the musical-drama Fanney Khan is loosely based on the Oscar-nominated Dutch film Everybody’s Famous! Aishwarya will be seen essaying the role of a singer in this musical and will be seen sharing screen space with Anil Kapoor after nearly 17 years. Bankrolled by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, Anil Kapoor and Bhushan Kumar, Fanney Khan also features Rajkummar Rao and Divya Dutta in pivotal roles. The film is slated to release on August 3, 2018.
