A 70-year old woman was murdered by her own daughter-in-law on Tuesday (July 15) over a petty matter.
According to police, the victim Sulochana Sudhakar Nikalje (70), resident of Indora Slums, behind Jaitavan Bouddha Vihar, Nagpur, was drawing water from a drum kept in front of her house at about 7 in the morning. At the same time, the accused Alka Raju Nikalje (44) told Sulochana not to waste water. However, Sulochana neglected her and continued to draw water. This snub by Sulochana infuriated the accused Alka and, in a fit of anger, she first hit Sulochana with a plastic bucket and then rammed her head on a nearby wall. The impact was so hard that Sulochana received serious head injury and died on the spot.
Jaripatka Senior PSI Shrikhande, acting on a complaint filed by Raju Sudhakar Nikalje (44), husband of Alka, booked the accused under Section 302 of the IPC and is investigating the matter further.
