Addicts of narcotics in Koradi plant area in Nagpur
Nagpur:
While Koradi power plant is already gripped by so many problems, now one more problem has reportedly cropped up. And, it is the problem of supply of intoxicants by way of smuggling to labourers-on-contract and plant workers. An international gang is said to be operating in such a nefarious act.
It was revealed only when an alert employee of Koradi power plant wrote a confidential letter to IG (Vigilance) of Mahagenco informing that the labourers and plant workers from Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Punjab, Jharkhand and West Bengal are found to be addict of consumption of narcotics, like, charas, ganja (marijuana), opium, etc, in the plant area. Those who are addict to such intoxicants resort to theft in the plant so that they may obtain money to satiate their addiction.
When brought to the notice of the management of Koradi power plant, the management has started punishing them by retrenching them from job/ work, and such retrenched labourers are now searching jobs in other companies and cities.
However now, according to senior security manager Sudhakar Ingle, the security personnel in ‘civies’ have been deployed in each section of the plant to maintain vigil over such an act and the addicts.
