The accused in Pintu Shirke murder case, Maroti alias Navva Santosh Walke, who was acquitted by the court recently for want of evidence, has levelled serious charges against Nandanvan Police Station officials and other policemen.

Addressing a press conference, Navva tried to come clean in connection with the reports published in city newspapers today. The newspapers reported a raid by Nandanvan police on Monday in connection with running of a gambling den by Navva in his house and subsequent arrest of three persons including Navva, resident of Mire Layout. The names of other two persons were given as Nandu Nithori Ravidas of Sahakar Nagar and Ritesh Ashok Gupta of Hansapuri. The newspapers also reported seizure cash of Rs 1200, playing cards and some cell phones.

“The Nandanvan police are spreading a blatant lie about the raid on my house and arrest of three persons. Is it possible to run gambling den with two or three people? And had it been a gambling den then Rs 12 lakh could have been seized rather Rs 1200 only. All cell phones are with us. The Nandanvan police are conspiring to involve me in false cases since the day I was acquitted by the court in a murder case. Now, at present I am busy in social work and running my property business,” Navva alias Maroti Santosh Walke told the media at the press conference on Tuesday (December 3).

Further elaborating his position to Nagpur Today Crime Reporter Ravikant Kamble who was also present at the press conference, Navva said, “On Monday, some 15-20 policemen came to his house and told me that the PI has called me to police station. After reaching the police station, the police told him and two of my friends to sign some statements which we refused. There is not a single offence registered against me at Nandanvan Police Station. On the contrary, the PI Wadile, Second PI Bandiwar, PSI Sonawane and Head Constable always demand Rs 2000-5000, a sack of wheat, rice and other things from me. The Nandanvan police are telling all lies about me since the day I was acquitted by the court and also conspiring to involve me in false cases,” Navva told the media.
