Finally, Imambada police have succeeded in arresting the absconding accused involved in murder of a wine bar staffer. The fugitive Asif Sheikh was nabbed in Mumbai, according to police sources.
Police investigation has reportedly revealed that the murder was outcome of suspicion. Asif was deeply suspecting, Puja alias Alsia, having illicit relations. Asif told police that whenever he went out he suspected Puja had affairs with another man. The suspicion took the shape of a raging monster and ultimately, he eliminated Puja on May 30 last year by slitting her throat open with a sharp-edged weapon in his own house. Asif then fled the spot and even city and went to Mumbai.

It may be recalled, Puja’s body was recovered after 30 hours of her murder when foul smell started emanating from the house. From that day, Imambada police were searching for clues that could take them to whereabouts of Asif. Police sources revealed that the victim had lost her mother at a very tender age. Her father remarried and was staying with another woman in Mumbai. The victim was said to be a wine bar staffer in Mumbai. She fell in love with Asif after which both came back to Nagpur and were staying in a rented house in Indira Nagar near Jattarodi under Imambada Police Station jurisdiction.
However, within a few days, Asif started suspecting her fidelity. People often noticed them indulging in verbal duel and Asif warning his wife with life threats. After some days, no one saw Puja. However, foul smell emanating from Puja’s room drew attention of nearby residents who immediately informed Imambada police station. Cops broke open the door of the house and found body of Puja with her throat slit open.
Meanwhile, on the basis of suspicion, cops launched a hunt for Asif after registering a murder case against him and finally succeeded in arresting him from Mumbai.
