A Flower Show gives message of Peace, Prosperity & Good Health

Nagpur: It was grand. It was novel and it was educative too. The 13th Plant, Flower & Mini-Landscape Competition & Show -2017 organized by Friends International, Nagpur, in association with Nagpur Municipal Corporation and Institute of Engineers, Nagpur, was inaugurated by District Collector Sachin Kurve.

The Show was organized at Institution of Engineers (I), North Ambazari Road, Nagpur on Saturday, 14th January 2017. The eye catchy Rangoli of Flowers was the welcome treat for the visitors. Thousands of flower – lovers visited the show day long and the exhibitors were busy in sharing the information about their flowers & the arrangements. There were more than 90 varieties of roses, other flowers and indoor plants in 112 sections.

A beautiful imitation of peacock made by Sunita Sharma using colorful flowers with various patterns and color was serene to the visitors and was appreciated by everyone. Landscape. Floral Carpet arrangement & Ikebana were the main attraction of the show.

A stall has been made up by NMC & Green Vigil Foundation. Kaustav Chatterjee, Founder of the Green Vigil Foundation along with his team did a fruitful job of spreading awareness about the environmental issue and also encouraged citizens to opt green living practices.

Tijare bagged the King of Roses trophy while Queen of Roses trophy was won by Duddhalwar. The Prince of Roses prize went to Raj Bhavan and the Princess was captured by Tijare.


Prominently present during the inaugural ceremony were Dandegaokar, Deputy Commissioner NMC, Sudhir Mate. Garden Superintendent, NMC. President of Friends International Suresh Junghare, Dr Sanjay Manekar, Secretary Friends International, Ex President of Institution of Engineers Doifode, Chairman Dilip Chinchmalatpure, Members Om Jajodia, Praful Samarth, Suneel Gorde, Arvind Pain, Amit Deshmukh. “Floriculture & gardening have unlimited potential for employment generation and creation of clean environment that is necessary for growth of hi-tech industries like IT, Pharma & precision engineering,” said by Suresh Junghare, President of Friends International. A slogan “Gardening for Peace, Prosperity & Good Health” has been given by the Chairman of the show Dilip Chinclnalatpure.

The concluding day of the Flower Show was graced by Municipal Commissioner Shravan Hardikar who distributed the prizes to the winners.
