Nagpur: Facebook friendship turned disastrous for a 22-year old girl as she was repeatedly raped by the 19-year old “friend” with marriage promise. The ‘friendship’ did not last long as the accused has been arrested.
The 19-year old accused Tanish Vivek Durugkar, resident of Dasara Road, Mahal, extended a hand of friendship to the 22-year old girl, resident of Pratap Nagar area. The accused ‘friend’ fed false information about his family and lured the girl with marriage promise.
Once trapped in his bogus promise, Tanish eloped with the girl and raped her over a period from March 1 to 6 at different places. However, when the girl reminded the accused Tanish about his marriage promise the “friend” turned “foe” and treated her with disdain. Tanish abused and heaped insults on the ‘Facebook girl’ and refused to marry with her. Devastated by the turn of events, the girl lodged a complaint with Pratap Nagar Police Station against Tanish.

Pratap Nagar PSI Thool registered an offence against the accused Tanish Durugkar under Sections 366, 376(N), 504 of IPC and arrested him.
