Call it a ‘Hudhud’ effect, or the uncertainty that looms large over the fate of candidates at all the assembly seats in Nagpur, the weather turned to a deviated track as the city goes to have its final say on Wednesday morning. The cloud cast a dark spell as the sun did not show up but the moods appeared to the be more bright as the cheerful citizens walk at the polling booth surrounded by the arrangement that gives an impression of free and fair conduct.

The testimony to this fact is that apart from regular patrolling in various localities of the city, rural cops have also rounded up history sheeters, seizing liquor, weapons and cash in raids carried out at various places. A total of 4,500 police personnel alongside 1,000 police officers have been deployed for security on the polling day.

PSIs from Nashik Police Academy have also been called for security arrangements. Similarly, seven companies of Indo Tibetan Border Police, Central Industrial Security Force and State Reserve Police Force have been called by commissioner of police K K Pathak, who held numerous meetings to plan security arrangements on the polling day.

The situation is no different at rural level too, Superintendent of police Dr Aarti Singh has chalked out a security plan for the assembly elections.

A total of 150 police officers, 200 police personnel and 627 home guards will be deployed to ensure smooth conduct of voting. Personnel from Nagpur Police Training School, CID, Crime Branch (Pune), SRPF, CRPF and five companies of paramilitary forces from Tamil Nadu and Telangana have been summoned. Liquor stocks have been seized from various places in district. Borders of Nagpur district with other state have been sealed to foil attempts to bring goons, bogus voters, weapons or liquor into the city. A total of 18 check posts have been created. EC holds video conference.

Nagpur Today appeals to all its voters to come out and cast their votes in a manner that translates into their unanimous choice. Happy Voting for Now!
