Nagpur: Pratap Nagar police have booked a middle aged man allegedly for seeking Rs 3 crore extortion money and giving threats to a South East Railway Colony based family between June 30 and October 30 this year. Based on the complaint lodged by Sachin Jaindrakumar Badjate (42) cops have booked accused identified as Rakesh Dekate (48), a resident of Ujjwal Nagar, behind Airport Central Point, Wardha Road under Sections 386, 387, 323, 504 of the IPC.

According to police, Sachin had borrowed loan from accused Rakesh to open a medical shop in the vicinity few years back. In the next three years, the complainant had also returned the amount with 300% of interest rate. However, on June 30, this year accused Rakesh had reportedly barged inside Badjate’s resident and sought Rs 1.5 lakh from them. As the accused had doled out the threats to eliminate members of his family, Sachin paid the said amount and silently bore the brunt.

While Badjate family was recovering from the shock in the past, Rakesh on October 30 again showed up at their doorsteps. This time, Rakesh accosted members of Badjate family and also hurled abuses at them. Rakesh warned Sachin to pay him hefty amount of Rs 3 crore if he wishes to save his family. Terrified of the incident, Sachin then approached Pratap Nagar police station and filed a complaint.
