Nagpur: A horrific road accident late at night near Mauda on the Nagpur–Bhandara National Highway claimed the life of a container driver, who was burnt alive after his vehicle caught fire. The cleaner sustained serious injuries and remains in critical condition.
According to initial reports, the incident occurred around 10 PM near the Paramatma Ashram bridge. A container truck rammed into a stationary truck from behind with great force. The impact triggered a loud explosion-like sound, and within moments, the container was engulfed in flames.

Local residents rushed to the spot upon hearing the blast and immediately alerted the police. The Mauda police, along with the fire brigade and ambulance services, reached the scene promptly. After considerable effort, firefighters managed to bring the blaze under control.
The injured cleaner was rescued and rushed to a nearby hospital, where he is currently undergoing treatment. His condition is reported to be critical.
Meanwhile, local residents have blamed roadside encroachments for the accident. They pointed out that illegal tea and paan stalls along the highway often lead to vehicles being parked haphazardly on the roadside, causing traffic congestion and increasing the risk of such accidents.
Residents have demanded immediate action from authorities to remove these encroachments and improve traffic management in the area to prevent further tragedies.
