Nagpur: With the onset of summer vacation season, railway ticket bookings from Nagpur to major cities like Mumbai, Pune, Kolhapur, and Solapur have already surged, leading to long waiting lists and “regret” status on several trains.

The railways opened advance bookings for June at the beginning of April, and within the first week itself, thousands of tickets were booked. According to Nagpur Railway Division officials, most trains on these busy routes are now either in waiting list (WL) or Reservation Against Cancellation (RAC) status on the IRCTC website.

Heavy Demand Due to Summer Vacations

As schools and colleges in Nagpur begin closing for summer holidays, students, families, and working professionals are traveling in large numbers to cities like Mumbai and Pune—for vacations, visiting relatives, or returning home. Similarly, return travel from Mumbai and Pune to Nagpur has also increased significantly.

  • May 1–2: Pune Humsafar Express, Gitanjali Express, Shalimar–LTT Express, CSMT Duronto Express—all showing no availability or regret in multiple classes

No Additional Coaches Yet

Although railway authorities have announced plans to run special trains during peak summer travel, no official confirmation has yet been made regarding additional coaches or new services, leaving passengers struggling to secure confirmed tickets.

Passenger Advisory

Travelers are advised to:

  • Book tickets as early as possible
  • Consider alternate travel dates
  • Explore options like buses or flights if tickets are unavailable

Nagpur routes traditionally witness heavy traffic during summer, but this year, the rush has begun unusually early—causing inconvenience for many passengers.
