Nagpur: A massive fire broke out at a camphor (kapur) manufacturing factory in the Hingna MIDC area around 3 pm on Wednesday, sending thick plumes of smoke across the locality and creating a dense haze in the surrounding area.
Five fire tenders from the Fire Department rushed to the spot and immediately began firefighting operations. A large number of firefighters have been deployed to bring the blaze under control. With a Mercedes car showroom located adjacent to the factory, officials said they are exercising extra caution to prevent the fire from spreading.
Fire officials said that nearly 60% of the flames have been brought under control, and efforts are ongoing to completely douse the remaining fire.
Fortunately, there were no workers inside the factory at the time of the incident, as the unit remains closed on Wednesdays. As a result, no casualties or injuries have been reported.
A preliminary probe suggests that a short circuit may have triggered the blaze. Further investigation is underway.
