
Nagpur: A TVS Jupiter scooter worth Rs 30,000 was stolen from outside a residence in Somalwada under Sonegaon Police Station limits during the night of November 12. According to police, complainant Rahul Mahesh Balekar (34), a resident of Plot No. 15-B, Srushti Apartment, Somalwada, Wardha Road, had parked and locked his scooter (MH-31-FN-9851) outside his house between 10 pm on November 12 and 7 am on November 13, when an unknown thief stole the vehicle.
Based on his complaint, Sonegaon Police registered a case. During the investigation, officials of Crime Branch Unit 1 conducted technical analysis and, acting on reliable information, detained Simon alias Shetty Anthony Francis (22), a resident of 85 Plot Area, near Mata Mandir, Ajni. Upon questioning, he confessed to stealing the Jupiter scooter.
Further interrogation revealed that he, along with his accomplice and wanted co-accused Aniket Meshram, was also involved in mobile theft cases under Beltarodi Police Station limits.
Police seized the stolen Jupiter scooter, three stolen mobile phones, and three additional handsets, collectively valued at around Rs 73,500. The accused, along with the recovered property, has been handed over to Sonegaon Police for further action.
The operation was carried out under the guidance of Police Commissioner Ravinderkumar Singal, Joint Commissioner Navin Chandran Reddy, Additional CP (Crime) Vasant Pardeshi, DCP (Detection) Rahul Maknikar, and ACP (Crime Branch) Abhijeet Patil, by the officers and personnel of Crime Branch Unit 1.
Further investigation is underway.
