Nagpur: A shocking case of domestic violence unfolded in Ramna Maruti area (Nandanvan police limits) where a 53-year-old man allegedly slit his 78-year-old father’s throat with a cutter and brutally assaulted his 75-year-old mother in a dispute over property.
Police have booked the accused, Pramod Pandey (53), for attempted murder. The victims, Madhav Pandey (78) and Shobha Pandey (75), suffered serious injuries, with the father in critical condition. Madhav Pandey is a retired government employee.

The family includes the elderly couple, their two sons and daughters. The daughters are married, and one of the sons had died just two days earlier. Following the death, Pramod reportedly became increasingly unstable, frequently drunk, and prone to quarrelling with his parents.
He had been pressuring them to transfer the house and property in his name. The parents refused due to his alcoholism and violent behaviour.
Attack in the early hours
The incident occurred early Monday morning after another heated argument. In a fit of rage, Pramod grabbed a cutter and attacked his father. When the mother intervened, he pushed and assaulted her as well.
Neighbours alerted police, who rushed to the spot and shifted the injured couple to hospital.
Case registered
Nandanvan Police have detained Pramod and registered offences under Section 307 (attempt to murder) and other relevant sections. The investigation is ongoing.
Local residents told police, “Madhav ji is a very calm, gentle man. Pramod used to fight with his parents after drinking. This time he crossed all limits.”
