Nagpur: A shocking case of sexual assault has come to light in Shantinagar, where a 20-year-old woman was allegedly raped and blackmailed by the son of her father’s close friend. The accused reportedly took her photos while she was bathing and threatened to make them viral on social media, using the threat to sexually assault her repeatedly over several months.
According to police sources, the accused has been identified as Mayur Yewale (32), a resident of Premnagar. Both his parents are deceased, and his father was a long-time friend of the victim’s father. Some months ago, Mayur met with an accident and was staying at the victim’s home during his recovery.
During that time, he secretly captured photos of the victim while she was bathing and later began threatening to post them online. Under this pressure, he allegedly raped her multiple times between July 18, 2024, and November 1, 2025. The accused also threatened to kill her parents and sister if she revealed the abuse to anyone.
Traumatized and unable to bear the mental and emotional harassment, the victim finally gathered courage and filed a complaint at the Shantinagar Police Station. Acting swiftly, the police arrested Mayur Yewale, booking him under sections of the Indian Penal Code for rape and provisions of the IT Act.
Further investigation into the case is underway.
This incident has once again raised concerns about the safety of women even within familiar circles — where trust is often betrayed in the most disturbing ways.
