In a significant political development, the Thackeray brothers — Raj Thackeray and Uddhav Thackeray — are set to come together in a united front against the imposition of Hindi and the “trilingual formula” in Maharashtra’s schools. The state is likely to witness a massive stir in the first week of July, with major protest marches planned by both factions.

Raj Thackeray’s Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) had announced a march on July 5, while the Marathi Coordination Committee, supported by Uddhav Thackeray, was preparing for its own protest on July 7. Talks were underway to consolidate both events into a single massive demonstration.

Efforts were being made to urge both parties to join forces rather than conduct separate marches. The discussions have apparently borne fruit, with Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) MP Sanjay Raut making a key announcement.

Taking to social media, Sanjay Raut stated that a joint and unified protest march will be held on July 5 against the forced imposition of Hindi in Maharashtra’s schools. This effectively confirms that Raj and Uddhav Thackeray will share the stage during the upcoming protest, marking a rare public show of unity between the two estranged brothers.

The development is being seen as a major turning point in Maharashtra’s political landscape, especially in the context of preserving the primacy of the Marathi language in education.
