According to the police, Megha had fallen in love with one Sharad Thakre of Kaniyadol village. When Vijay found out about the affair, he objected to it and asked Megha to stay away from Sharad. However, Megha refused to mend her ways and continued her relationship with Sharad. This led to frequent quarrels between Vijay and Megha, which eventually resulted in Megha leaving her matrimonial home and shifting to her paternal place.

Investigations revealed that Megha hatched a conspiracy with Sharad to kill Vijay. On Saturday, she invited Vijay to her place in Kaniyadol village, and when he arrived, Sharad was also present there. After spending some time at Megha’s place, Sharad took Vijay to a nearby beer bar where they consumed liquor. Later, Sharad and his two friends took Vijay near Dhapewada, where they beat him up and strangled him to death.

Vijay’s body was discovered by morning walkers on Sunday. The Kalmeshwar police were informed, and they rushed to the spot. The body was sent for post-mortem, and a case under Sections 302, 120(B), and 34 of the Indian Penal Code was registered against the accused.

The Superintendent of Police, Vishal Anand, said that Megha was part of the conspiracy, even though she was not present at the spot. She had made two phone calls to Sharad after Vijay’s murder to know the status, which clearly indicated her involvement in the crime. The police acted swiftly and apprehended the accused within three hours of the murder.

They were identified as Sharad Thakre, Keshav Bhoyar, and Vrikshpal Patil, both friends of Sharad, all residents of Kaniyadol village. Further investigation is underway.
