“The red-coloured ST Bus is a pleasant sight for rural folk. It is their cherished transport. This ST has molded futures of many. The ST Bus ferried thousands and thousands of students to their schools, learn and become distinguished citizens in different fields. And it continues to do the same, non-stop. Today, the ST is completing 68 years of its glorious existence. I extend my good wishes to lakhs of employees of ST,” with these words the Ramtek MP Krupal Tumane expressed his feelings.

Tumane was presiding over a function to mark 68th Formation Day of MSRTC held at Ganeshpeth Bus Stand. Other dignitaries present on the occasion include MSRTC General Manager Anna Gohatre, Divisional Controller Rajiv Ghatole, Chairman of Narkhed Panchayat Samiti Raju Harne, Pravasi Sangh’s Ashok Patrikar and a large number of citizens.

A Health Check Up camp was also organized on the occasion for employees depot. Appreciating the venture, Tumane urged the ST authorities to hold such Health Check Up camps every month so that the employees are fit and healthy to serve the passengers vigorously.

The Regional Transport Officer Pawar and the General Manager of ST Anna Gohatre also spoke on the occasion. The introductory speech was made by Anant Mudiwale. He said that the State Transport Corporation was formed on June 1, 1947. The first ST Bus was run Nagar-Pune route on June 1, 1948. At that time the ST had 37 buses and today it has a fleet of 17,500 buses.

The Ramtek MP Tumane also felicitated senior employees of ST namely Sheikh Israel Sheikh, S B Tavale, Ishrat Ahmed, Mahmood Jafar Ahmed, Jayant Namdeo Puri by offering them shawl, shriphal and a Fixed Deposit Certificate of Rs 5000.

Rajiv Ghatole proposed a vote of thanks.
