Nagpur: As it was not possible for the government to accommodate in jobs all the Gosikhurd project-affected, it had always become a point of unrest for the affected. Thus, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has decided that his government should pay the compensation due to the remaining project-affected in lump sum. As a result, as many as 7,315 project-affected farmers would be benefited.

The state government had issued a notification in year 1983 that the project-affected would be given jobs in government, but not all could be provided jobs in government over past 26 years. As the families of project-affected were on the verge of being on streets, their sympathizers like Gosikhurd Prakalp Grast Sangharsh Samiti convenor Vilas Bhogade, joined by Vithoba Samreet and Manik Gedam staged agitations many a time, but in vain.

As the government of BJP came to power in the state, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis decided that the project-affected be given lump sum amount due, rather than again assuring them of jobs. As this decision was taken on Aug 19, 2015, as many as 7,315 project-affected would be benefited with pump sum cash.
