The nine accused, arrested by Ambazari police in connection with the horrific murder of Khushal Kuhike in Marartoli on Wednesday morning, were produced in Sessions Court on Thursday afternoon amid tight security. The court sent seven of the accused to police custody remand till February 9. One accused being minor was sent to Children’s Remand Home while another accused was admitted to GMCH as he complained of chest pain.

The nine accused, arrested by cops within hours of the murder, are Ajay alias Chidi Meshram, Palas alias Palya Chaudhary, Pawan Sherekar, Jayesh alias Paa Atram, James Singh, Vishal Chachane, Vitthal Korti, Akash Neware and an unidentified accused.

Akash Neware is minor accused and hence was sent to Children’s Remand Home while Vitthal Korti, father of Bagga who too was murdered in the same manner in the same area a couple of months ago, was admitted to GMCH as he complained of chest pain.

It is pertinent to recall that 38-year old Khushal Babanrao Kuhike, a resident of Telankhedi was murdered on Wednesday morning in Ramnagar’s Marartoli. A gang of assailants surrounded Khushal and first blinded him by throwing chili powder in his eyes. Later, the marauding assailants smashed Khushal’s head with stones and repeated blows of the axe, swords and other weapons. Khushal collapsed and died on the spot with brain pieces splattered on the road.

The murder of Khushal was being said as a revenge act. A man named Bagga alias Nilesh Korti was done to death in the same manner in the same area. The deceased Khushal Kuhike was in decoration business and was allegedly helping financially the killers of Bagga and trying to bail them out. The January 27 was the 40th day ritual of Bagga and one of his friends named James Singh had vowed revenge by eliminating Khushal. Vitthal Korti, father of deceased Bagga, had even threatened Khushal’s mother of dire consequences.
