6 members of two families thrash man, his mother, wife over ‘cricket’

Six members of two families, including three women, vandalised house of a 30-year old man, thrashed him and also threatened to kill his mother, wife, sister-in-law in order to settle a score over old dispute. The incident took place in Ekta Nagar, Godhni Road on Wednesday night.

It all started when the complainant, Kiran Sudam Bhanavat (30), resident of Plot No. 7, Darshana Society, Ekta Nagar, Godhni Road, around 5.30 pm on Wednesday objected to some boys who were playing cricket in indecent manner. The boys were indulging vulgar gestures and hurling filthy abuses on each other. Watching the boys playing dirty cricket, Kiran objected and scolded them. Kiran’s objection and berating did not go down well with the boys as well as some residents. Around 9.45 pm on the same night, the accused named Nagesh Pawar (28), Shivdhan Pawar (23), Lalitabai Pawar (47), Jyoti Vicky Rathod (26), Vicky Rathod (30) and an unidentified girl forcibly entered the house of Kiran, vandalised it and thrashed Kiran. The accused even beat up Kiran’s mother, wife, sister-in-law and threatened to kill them.

Mankapur Police Constable Savarkar has booked all the six accused under Sections 143, 452, 448, 323, 506(B) of the IPC. Further probe is underway.
