52-year-old man attempts to kill his 45-year-old wife

Nagpur: In a strange case that has come to fore, a 52-year-old man attempted to kill his 45-year-old wife in Somalwar area falling under the jurisdiction of Sonegaon Police Station on November 25, 2016.

According to the police sources, the victim is identified as Vanita Krishnarao Raghtate aged 45 years. The accused is identified as Krishnrao Sampatrao Raghtate aged 52 years and resident of Zhenda Square, Somalwar.

On November 25, 2016, at 1:30 pm when the victim returned home from her work and asked her husband what happened to the money that she had given to pay the installment of the bank loan, the accused got enraged and pored kerosene oil on the victim and set her afire. However, her screams alerted her neighbours and they doused the flames and rushed her to Government Medical College and Hospital where she is undergoing treatment. The condition of the victim is said to be critical.

On the basis of the complaint lodged by the victim, Police Sub Inspector Shejav of Sonegaon Police Station has registered a case under Section 307 of Indian Penal Code.
