50,000-strong army of Nagpur’s vivid citizens declare war on diseases like Dengue, Malaria

The 50,000-strong army of students, citizens, NGOs, journalists, social workers, educational institutes apart from Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) officials and employees declared a war on deadly diseases like Dengue, Malaria and other waterborne diseases on Friday (August 23). The battlefield was entire Nagpur city with 150 squares being the focus of the NMC’s Awareness Campaign to make the city disease-free. Thousands of pamphlets with a message were distributed across the city.

The Awareness Campaign was flagged off from Avale Babu Square (Kamal Chowk) in North Nagpur at 10 am in the presence of Mayor Anil Sole, Health Committee Chairman Ramesh Shingare, NMC Commissioner Shyam Wardhane. Other who were present on the occasion included Ashi Nagar Zone Chairman Gautam Patil, Bahujan RPI Ekta Manch leader Rahul Telang, former Corporator Prabhakar Yevale, Sanjay Jaiswal, Rukhma Bahadure, Assistant Commissioner Ashok Patil, Medical Officer (Sanitation) Dr Ashok Urkude, Malaria and Hattirog Officer Jayashree Dhote, Dr Shyam Shende, Babli Meshram, Avinash Ghamgaye, Rajesh Hathibed, Dharamdas Meshram, and other officials and employees.

The Mayor Anil Sole and NMC Commissioner Shyam Wardhane distributed pamphlets with a message of taking care against prevention and control of Dengue, Malaria and other water borne diseases. Similarly, at Agrasen Square in Gandhibagh, Mayor Anil Sole, Ramesh Shingare, and former Chairman of Standing Committee Dayashankar Tiwari distributed the pamphlets. Dr Pavane and other officials were present.

 

At Bachharaj Square (Badkas Chowk), BJP MLA Vikas Kumbhare, State Spokesman Girish Vyas, Gandhibagh Zone Chairman Rashmi Fadnavis, Corporator Bandu Raut, Rambhau Ambulkar, Assistant Commissioner Rajesh Bhivgade, hundreds of students, NGOs, citizens distributed pamphlets in the presence of Mayor Anil Sole, and Ramesh Shingare.

At Telephone Exchange Square, CA Road, the Mayor and BJP MLA Krishna Khopde, Ramesh Shingare, Lakadganj Zone Chairman Pradeep Pahane, Education Committee Chairperson Chetna Tank, Shiv Sena leader Sheetal Gharat, Corporator Balya Borkar, Devendra Meher, Duneshwar Pethe, Corporator Anita Wankhede, Sangita Kalamkar, Assistant Commissioner Subhashchandra Jaideo, Sunil Kothe, and students and teachers of Ram Manohar Lohiya School distributed pamphlets.

At Chitar Oli, Mahal, Ramesh Shingare, Corporator Rajesh Ghodpage, Vinod Ingole, Assistant Commissioner Raju Bhivgade distributed the pamphlets in the presence of Mayor Anil Sole.

At Somalwada Square, Standing Committee Chairman Avinash Thakre, Corporator Jayashree Wadibhasme, Lata Yadav, and NMC officials, students distributed the pamphlets.

Similarly, the pamphlets were distributed at Manewada Tukdoji Square, Jattarodi Imambada, Jhansi Rani Square, Sanvidhan Square (RBI Square) in the presence of Mayor Anil Sole, Ramesh Shingare, NMC Commissioner Shyam Wardhane, Varsha Thakre Jayant Thakre, Health Deputy Director Milind Ganar, Dr Urkude and other NMC top officials and employees.

Local Swarajya Sanstha Rally:

The Mayor Anil Sole flagged off a rally taken out by 100 students studying in Sthanik Swarajya Sanstha, Valmiki Nagar with courses of Health Inspector and other courses. The pamphlets were distributed by personally visiting the residents of the area.

In all the NMC’s Awareness Campaign against prevention and control of deadly diseases received a massive response from students, citizens, NGOs, educational institutes and NMC’s officials and employees.
