5 women booked for land fraud worth crores

Sonegaon police have booked five women including Directors of Shri Saicharan Housing and Land Developers on the charges of hatching conspiracy and grabbing a huge land worth crores by fraudulent means. The five accused women grabbed the 0.48 hectare land situated at Chinchbhuvan area, carved out a layout and sold 47 plots to gullible purchasers to the tune of Rs 2 crore.

The accused are the daughters of the original land owner and their father had sold the land to Kolbaswami Housing Society in the year 1991. However, the daughters sold the same land to Saicharan Housing and Land Developers in the year 2002 with the help of bogus documents. The Saicharan Society formed a layout and sold 47 plots. The accused have been identified as Mehrun alias Mehrunnisa Abdul Gani; Shamim Akhtar Sheikh Chand Qureshi, Khurshidbano Mohd Shariff; Sudhadevi Chauhan and Asha Patil.

According to police, daughters Barkatullah Khan Pathan sold the land to Saicharan Society and the society sold 47 plots. The plot-owners approached a specially formed Special Investigation Team (SIT) and lodged a complaint about the fraud. After studying the documents, the SIT noticed the fraud and directed Sonegaon police for registration of an offence against the accused. PSI Jadhav registered the case under Sections 120 (b), 420, 465, 467, 468,471,472,474,447 and 341 of the IPC and launched an in-depth investigation into the matter.
