5 major smartphone launches taking place in India this week

July has already seen a bunch of major launches, including the likes of Samsung’s Galaxy J5 and Galaxy J7, and the recently launched Yu Yureka Plus. The month is looking at ending with a similar bang, and the last week of July is jam-packed with new launches. Listed below are five major smartphone launches taking place in India next week.

Lava Android One smartphone

On Monday, Lava is hosting a launch event where it is widely expected to launch the first of the next-generation Android One smartphones. A mysterious Lava smartphone called the Iris X5 4G has been spotted online that could be the Android One smartphone.

It is said to feature a 4.6-inch HD (1280×720 pixels) display, 1.3GHz MediaTek MT6735 quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB internal storage, 12-megapixel rear camera, 7-megapixel selfie camera, LTE support, and on the software front, runs on Android 5.1 out-of-the box.

Micromax’s ultra-affordable smartphone

BGR India today learnt that Micromax is planning on launched an ultra-affordable smartphone next week. Details are sketchy at best, but a leaked photo hints at a smartphone with a metallic frame. Unfortunately that’s about all that we know about the smartphone. Another thing that we do know is that Micromax’s forthcoming smartphone will retail on Flipkart.

OnePlus 2

This is easily one of the most anticipated smartphones, and it will be launched on July 28 via a virtual reality event. Later in the day, the Chinese company is hosting a launch event in New Delhi to no doubt reveal Indian pricing and availability details.

OnePlus has already revealed quite a lot about the smartphone. It will be powered by an improved version of the Snapdragon 810 processor,and feature USB Type C port, fingerprint sensor, a 3,300mAh battery, faster LTE, and dual-SIM card support. Rumors claim that the smartphone will also feature a 5.5-inch full HD (1920×1080 pixels) display, 13-megapixel rear camera with laser auto focus and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. The company has also confirmed that the OnePlus 2 will be priced between $320 and $450.

Motorola Moto G (2015)

On the same day, Motorola too is hosting a launch event in New Delhi, where it is expected to unveil its third generation smartphones. One of them is the mid-range Moto G (2015), and a promo video from earlier in the day has revealed nearly everything worth knowing about the smartphone.

It is expected to feature a 5-inch HD display, 1.7GHz Snapdragon 410 quad-core SoC, 2GB of RAM, and 8GB internal storage that can be expanded using a microSD card. Also set to be included are 13-megapixel rear camera, 5-megapixel front-facing camera, 2,470mAh battery, and IPx7 certification making it water resistant. On the software front, it will run on Android 5.1.1 out-of-the-box. Adding to the long list of leaks is yet another report hinting that the Moto G (2015) will be priced around Rs 13,700.

Motorola Moto X (2015)

In addition to the Moto G, Motorola could also unveil the third generation of its flagship Moto X. From what we have head so far, it is expected to flaunt a 5.64-inch QHD display, and will be powered by a Snapdragon 808 chipset paired with 3GB of RAM. It is also likely to feature a 16-megapixel rear camera, 5-megapixel selfie camera, USB Type C port, 3,280mAh battery and will run on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop out-of-the-box.
