408 pilgrims from Nagpur distt selected to perform Haj in 2019

Total 11,907 pilgrims from Maharashtra selected for Haj

Nagpur: Maharashtra State Haj Committee on Monday conducted a computerised draw at Mumbai-based Haj House to select number of pilgrims to perform Haj in 2019. In the draw, 11,907 pilgrims from State including 408 from Nagpur were selected for the Haj.

This year, the Haj Committee of India has fixed a quota of 1,25,025 of Haj pilgrims from the country. Maharashtra has quota of 11,907 seats (including reserved seats). Against the quota of Maharashtra the Committee received 35,658 applications which is more by 23,751. This year allotment of 1,25,025 pilgrims has been fixed.

Out of those, 500 is the number of pilgrims of Government quota, there are 625 volunteers. There is a quota of 2,254 meant for senior citizens that include one person after every citizen to accompany them as assistant.

Women of age 45 years and above can join pilgrimage without husband. There are 31 such applications and 18 are from Nagpur. The total number of pilgrims of Vidarbha is 1,310. The maximum number of pilgrims are from Nagpur– 408. Number of pilgrims from Akola -266, Amravati-314, Washim – 106, Yavatmal – 176, Wardha – 40, Chandrapur – 67, Bhandara – 20, Gondia -19, Gadchiroli – 15.
