4-yr old boy, going to buy chocolate, knocked dead by car in Jaripatka

Nagpur: In a heart-rending incident, a 4-year old boy, who was going to purchase chocolate, was hit by a recklessly driven car and injured critically. The kid died at a private hospital while undergoing treatment. The mishap took place in Jaripatka area here on Saturday afternoon. The car driver reportedly fled the spot and is being searched by cops.

A resident of Amarjyoti Nagar, Bhim Chowk, the deceased toddler has been identified as Yash Rahul Gavai.

According to police, Yash along with his friend Sparsh Rupnarayan (8), was going to a shop to purchase chocolate around 2.45 pm on Saturday. As both Yash and Sparsh were crossing the road to reach Neelam General Stores in Ahuja Nagar, the rashly driven Ford car (MH-49/AH 8768) hit Yash with forceful impact and injured him seriously. Nearby residents rushed Yash to Alexis Hospital. However, the kid succumbed to his injuries around 3.15 pm while undergoing treatment. Fearing wrath of people, the car driver reportedly fled the spot.

Jaripatka police constable Manohar Patil, based on a complaint lodged by Pranay Gopal Rupnarayan (37), resident of Plot No. 60, Amarjyoti Nagar, Bhim Chowk, booked the car driver under Sections 279, 304(A) of the IPC and searching for him.
