
Nagpur: In two separate incidents of two-wheeler theft reported from different parts of Nagpur, police have detained four juveniles in conflict with law and recovered six stolen vehicles collectively valued at around Rs 2.45 lakh, following technical investigation and sustained interrogation.
In the first case, a complaint was lodged at Panchpaoli Police Station by Aarti Nishant Sahu (32), a resident of Om Sai Nagar, Kalamna. According to the complaint, between 8.30 pm and 9 pm on January 13, 2026, her Honda Activa (MH-49 T 5696), worth approximately Rs 25,000, was stolen from the parking area in front of Hans Mishtan, Vaishali Nagar, despite being locked.
Based on her complaint, Panchpaoli police registered an offence against unknown accused under Section 303(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). During the investigation, police conducted technical analysis and, acting on credible information, detained two juveniles. During questioning, they confessed not only to the Activa theft but also to stealing three other two-wheelers, an Activa (MH-31 EH 8565) worth Rs 15,000 from Panchpaoli area, an Activa (MH-40 CF 8214) worth Rs 50,000 from Ajni police station limits, and a Splendor motorcycle (MH-31 FT 5762) worth Rs 60,000 from MIDC area. Police recovered all four stolen vehicles, collectively valued at about Rs 1.50 lakh. Further investigation is underway.
In another case, Wadi Police Station registered a theft complaint based on a report by Sachin Harichandra Madavi (46), a resident of Baba Trimurti Society, 8th Mile, Wadi. He stated that his Honda Dio moped (MH-40 AJ 8156), valued at Rs 25,000, was stolen between 11 pm on January 16 and 6 am on January 17, 2026, after being locked and parked outside his residence.
An offence under Section 303(2) of BNS was registered against unknown persons. During a parallel investigation, officers and staff of Crime Branch Unit No. 5 conducted a technical probe and detained two juveniles in conflict with law. During interrogation, they admitted to committing the Wadi theft and also confessed to stealing an Activa 6G (MH-49 CM 8255) worth Rs 70,000 from Hudkeshwar police station limits. Police recovered both vehicles, valued at approximately Rs 95,000, and handed over the juveniles along with the seized property to Wadi Police for further legal action.
Police have stated that further investigation is ongoing in both cases to ascertain whether the juveniles are involved in additional vehicle thefts across the city.
