Nagpur: A three-year-old boy from Nagpur suffering from blood cancer has received a major financial lifeline after the Maharashtra Chief Minister’s Medical Assistance Fund sanctioned ₹3 lakh for his treatment.
The child, Vivek Kiran Deshmukh, a resident of Savitribai Phule Nagar in Parvati Nagar area, was diagnosed with blood cancer, leaving his family in severe financial distress. Vivek’s parents, who work as daily wage labourers, were struggling to arrange money for urgent chemotherapy and related treatment.
After the case reportedly reached Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, immediate assistance was approved through the CM Medical Relief Fund. The sanctioned amount included ₹50,000 for emergency treatment and an additional ₹2.5 lakh for further medical expenses.

Following the financial support, Vivek was admitted to Wockhardt Hospital, where doctors began chemotherapy and other necessary procedures. According to doctors and family members, the child’s condition has shown improvement after treatment.
The family expressed gratitude to the CM Relief Fund office, saying the assistance arrived at a critical time when they had nearly lost hope. They also thanked officials involved in processing the aid quickly.
Officials stated that the Maharashtra CM Medical Assistance Fund continues to provide support for several serious illnesses, including cancer, heart disease, kidney transplants, dialysis, bone marrow transplants, neonatal treatment, accident injuries, and surgeries for children from economically weaker families.
