Nagpur: Crime Branch on Friday arrested three men on the charges of selling outdated Government Stamps and Stamp Papers that too in premium. The accused were supposed to deposit the defunct stamps and stamp papers to Government Treasury.

The arrested accused have been identified as Nilesh Arun Solekar (23), resident of Old Shukrawari, Pravin Ramkrishna Ashtankar (41) of Qr No, 4/121, Raghuji Nagar and Chandramani Sonuji Narnavre (60). The accused were running their dubious business of selling the outdated Government Stamps and Stamp Papers in premium from a “Chai Tapri” (tea stall) of Shubhangi Chakranyas situated in the premises of Collectorate.

The accused were supposed to deposit the defunct stamps and stamp papers to Government Treasury but instead were selling the stuff. Acting on a tip-off, Crime Branch sleuths raided the place and rounded up the three accused. Cops have also seized the stock of defunct stamps and stamp papers worth Rs 1.37 lakh.

Sadar PSI P S Tayde, on the basis of a complaint lodged by Kiran Vasantrao Chaugule of Crime Branch, booked the three accused under Sections 406, 409, 34 of the IPC and placed them under arrest.
