Nagpur: The Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has arranged artificial immersion tanks at various locations in the city to celebrate an eco-friendly Ganeshotsav. The entire arrangement has been made under the guidance of Municipal Commissioner and Administrator Dr. Abhijit Chaudhari, and led by Additional Commissioner Anchal Goyal through the Solid Waste Management Department.
Dr. Gajendra Mahalle, Deputy Commissioner of the Solid Waste Management Department, mentioned that on the fifth day, September 11, 2,942 Ganesh idols were immersed in artificial tanks at various locations. Out of these, only 69 were made of POP (Plaster of Paris), while 2,873 were clay idols. Nirmalya was collected in five Kalash. This year, a large number of citizens opted for clay Ganesh idols. He also stated that the Green Vigil Foundation is assisting the NMC with the immersion of Ganesh idols at Futala Lake.
On the first and second day of Ganeshotsav, a total 318 clay idols and 11 POP idols were immersed in artificial tanks across the city. Nirmalya was collected in five Kalash. On the third day, September 9, 201 clay and nine POP idols were immersed in artificial tanks and three Kalash collected Nirmalya.
Visarjan of 21 clay idols and one POP idol took place on the fourth day, September 10. Nirmalya was collected in one Kalash.
