
Nagpur: A 26-year-old man was killed and a 25-year-old motorcyclist was seriously injured after an unidentified speeding vehicle rammed their motorcycle from behind on the Mansar overbridge along National Highway 44 on Wednesday evening.
The deceased has been identified as Ashish Sahani (26), while the injured rider was identified as Sheshmani Nishad (25).
According to police, the two men were travelling from Nagpur towards Borda village via the Jabalpur route on motorcycle MH 40 AA 4325. When they reached the Mansar overbridge around the evening, an unidentified vehicle allegedly hit their motorcycle from behind.
The impact was so severe that Ashish, who was riding pillion, was thrown onto the road. He sustained critical injuries and died at the spot. Sheshmani, who was riding the motorcycle, also suffered serious injuries.
After receiving information about the accident, a Ramtek Police team reached the spot. Under the leadership of Police Sub-Inspector Raju Gadpalliwar, personnel inspected the scene and shifted the injured man to the Sub-District Hospital, Ramtek, in an NHAI ambulance.
Police also cleared the road and restored traffic movement while collecting evidence from the scene.
Ramtek Police have registered a case and launched a search for the unidentified vehicle and its driver, who fled the spot after the accident. The exact circumstances leading to the crash are also being investigated.
