MahaMetro gives 24-hr deadline to remove encroachment near Surabardi training centre

NAGPUR: The Metro Rail Corporation has given 24 hours’ time to those, who encroached upon the land near Surabardi Training Centre in Nagpur, to demolish their illegal structures and free the land with immediate effect.

The training centre at Surabardi is used for imparting traning of jungle camping and firing to police officers and employees. However, since last few years, the land surrounding this premises has been encroached upon by several people, who made illegal constructions on the lands.

The State government has decided to provide special training facilities to policemen working under anti-naxal operation cell. The government bears all the cost of training expenses at Surabardi centre. Since jungle area and firing range is not available at the Surabardi centre, the State has decided to use Forest department’s areas in Ambazari-Hingna for training purpose of policemen.

The area surrounding Surabardi centre had been witnessing illegal construction since almost a decade. The Metro Rail Corporation has now issued notices to all these illegal constructions with a 24-hour deadline.
