Nagpur: Tehsil police have mounted a search for a 22-year old woman who reportedly abandoned her 11-month baby in Mayo Hospital on Thursday.
According to police, the accused woman has been identified as Rupa Singh Berikar (22), resident of Retiyakhedi Chikhaldara, Amravati District. Rupa visited the Mayo Hospital on Thursday (August 27) at around 11 am. Shockingly, she deserted her 11-month baby in BICU Ward No. 7 of the hospital and vanished from the scene. The baby’s cries attracted the attention of doctors and other staff of the ward. They tried to locate the mother of the baby but could not find her. Finally, the doctor of the Ward, Dr Chirag Bhoj alerted the Tehsil police. On getting information, API Kadlag and his team reached Mayo Hospital and started investigation. At present the baby is in Mayo Hospital and receiving attention from doctors.
Cops have registered an offence against Rupa Singh Berikar under Section 317 of IPC and searching for her.
