Nagpur: In an outrageous act, two brothers assaulted an Assistant Police Inspector (API) on duty and tore his uniform and manhandled him. Moreover, the two accused siblings hurled filthy abuses on women police personnel present in the police station and threatened to kill them. Both have been arrested. The probable reason behind the two brothers attacking the police officer is that their younger sibling was involved in a theft at a flat and the API was investigating the case.

The API Arvind Ramaji Pawar (36), attached to Kalamna Police Station, was on duty around 8.30 pm on Monday (September 12). While the API was busy in his daily chores, the two accused brothers Raman Sham Asufa (25) and Rajat Sham Asufa (32), both residents of Flat No. 305, Vakratund Apartment, Dipti Signal, Near RTO Office, Kalamna, suddenly attacked the API, tore his uniform and also beat him up.

Moreover, the two brothers hurled filthy abuses on the women police personnel present in the police station and doled out life threats to them.

Notably, the youngest sibling of the two accused, Rushabh Asufa (23), using a duplicate key, entered the flat of Rajkumar Vidyalal Kungwani (55) of Flat No. 503, Vakratund Apartment, and decamped with cash Rs 85,000 and gold ornaments collectively worth Rs 1.60 lakh. The theft took place between 9.30 pm of September 10 and 12.30 pm of September 12 when the Kungwani family had gone to attend Ganpati programme in the same apartment.
The API Pawar was investigating the case.
