2 bike-borne robbers meet with accident, caught by people

Luck ran out for two bike-borne robbers who had snatched purse of a young girl as they met with an accident and were caught by people. The robbers not only suffered mishap injuries but were also thrashed by angry people. Both the accused are now cooling their heels in police custody. The incident took place on Thursday evening in Pratapnagar area.

A resident of 44, Vikas Nagar, behind Sai Mandir, Pratiksha Shyam Kale (24), along with her friend, was returning home from office walking. As the girls reached near Datta Mandir in Bandu Soni Layout, two bike-borne robbers snatched the purse of Pratiksha and tried to flee on their two-wheeler in a hurry. The purse contained Rs 600 and ATM card.

However, the motorcycle met with accident and both the robbers fell down. Nearby people immediately pounced on the two accused and gave them a dressing down. Later both were handed over to Pratapnagar police.

One of the accused robbers has been identified as Sumedh Gajanan Ramteke (24), resident of Plot No. 131, Kabir Nagar, Nari. His accomplice has not been identified.

Pratapnagar PSI Gurnule has booked both the accused under Sections 392, 34 of the IPC and placed them under arrest.
