Smart City Project will begin on first day of 2017 in Nagpur

Nagpur: 2017 is set to begin with a bang in Nagpur in terms of development works, particularly the much hyped Smart City project. While the Chief Minister will inaugurate the newly built Swami Vivekananda Memorial at Ambazari Lake overflow, the Nagpur Municipal Corporation, in association with its special purpose vehicle Nagpur Smart and Sustainable City Development Corporation Ltd, police department and state’s directorate of information technology (DIT) will launch the Rs3,544 crore Smart City project and Rs520 crore Smart City Solutions project.
The Smart City project works will begin from the day of bhoomipuja. The works of Smart City Solutions have already been started with installation of CCTVs, laying optical fibre cables, setting up Smart Kiosks etc.

Under Smart City Solutions project, Shankar Nagar Square will be converted into a Smart Square by installing Smart Solutions. Similarly, all squares on West High Court Road from Japanese Garden Square to Khamla Square will be developed into Smart Squares. The stretch will be developed into a Smart Strip.

Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis and union minister for road transport and highways Nitin Gadkari will launch the projects in the presence of mayor Pravin Datke and municipal commissioner Shravan Hardikar.
