Nagpur: In a heartening development, the Nagpur Police safely traced a 13-year-old boy who had gone missing after leaving home, reportedly unable to cope with the emotional trauma of his father’s recent death.

The teenager, a resident of Ansar Nagar in Mominpura under the Tehsil police station limits, had been missing since the night of August 3. According to police, his father had passed away about a month ago, after which the boy and his two brothers had been living with their uncle.

Police said the boy left the house quietly after dinner without informing any family member and did not return. When repeated searches by relatives failed to locate him, the family approached Tehsil Police Station and lodged a missing person complaint.

Treating the case with urgency, police launched an overnight search operation, combing nearby localities and gathering information from multiple sources.

The following day, the boy was found safe in the premises of a mosque in Mominpura. He was taken into protective custody and brought to the police station.

During questioning, the teenager told police that he had been deeply distressed by his father’s death and had left home because he was unable to cope with the emotional loss.

After completing the necessary legal formalities and providing counselling, police reunited the boy with his family.

The timely intervention by Tehsil Police brought immense relief to the family, who expressed gratitude to the officers for tracing the child safely before any harm could befall him.

Police have urged parents and guardians to remain attentive to the emotional well-being of children who experience traumatic events and to seek timely counselling and support whenever needed.
