Nagpur: The Guardian Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule has directed the District Sports Officer to send proposals for constructing sports complexes at 11 Taluka places except Katol and Kamptee to State Government. The sports complexes are to be built at the cost of Rs 3 crore.
In a meeting held at Ravi Bhavan here on Thursday, the minister said that the sports complexes would be constructed at Ramtek, Kuhi, Bhivapur, Umred, Mouda, Kalmeshwar, Saoner, Hingna, Nagpur Rural, Parshioni and Narkhed Talukas. Earlier, the State Government had made a provision of Rs 1 crore for the purpose but after considering the amount insufficient the proposal should be prepared for Rs 3 crore and sent to the State Government, Bawankule directed the officials.
The District Sports Complex is being built at Mauza Gada in Kamptee Taluka. The Zilla Parishad has resolved to provide 16 hectare land for the sports complex. The State Government has also approved it and the PWD has prepared a proposal of approximate cost of Rs 26.38 crore. The Sports Directorate too has approved the proposal. Rs 2.50 crore has been received by the Sports Complex Committee in March 2016, Bawankule said.
The District Sports Complex will have compound wall, facilities for Kabaddi, Kho-Kho and Football games at a cost of Rs 8 crore among other facilities.
The meeting was attended among others by Zilla Parishad President Neesha Savarkar, MLAs Sudhir Parve, Mallikarjun Reddy, District Collector Sachin Kurve, and officials of District Sports Office.
